Sunday: This is the first day of the move out. Carmel and I started packing up the apartment today. So far I have 6 boxes completed and two almost finished. We walked to Ace Hardware and got bubble wrap and packing tape and have hit it hard since. Tomorrow I have to talk to the apartment management about trying to get out of my lease early. I hope that my lack of a job will show them the seriousness of the situation. I fully expect I will loose my deposit (which was significant). I think I will ask to be out at the end of July. I have a feeler out for a job in Hood River, Oregon. They are not ready yet, and want to wait for 2-3 months but they may be able to act sooner. I may need to go back to a quick temporary job to give me some money in the interium.
I finished my letter to the hearing aid board requesting a review of my test results and that will get mailed Monday along with my bills for the month.
I am saddened by the need to start the packing process again, so soon. It is very discouraging, especially not knowing when and where I am going next.
Back to the task at hand.

the last bird

In another day my last child (the baby) leaves for college all the way across the US. She had been a fairly strong daddys girl until recently, I guess it is that teen thing. Even though we have had our bad times I will be very sad to not have her around the house. It will seem strange for what I am sure will be an extended time. I am trying my best to find permanent work closer to the west coast so I will not be so far away but those attempts seem to be thwarted at most turns. I continue to try. Maybe I should drop trying to find work in Audiology and go back to my first love in sound and AV. Unfortunatly it has been a while since I did that (for a living) so I don't think I would have much luck getting someone to see the potential and give me a break. Even though I am working in Texas, and the family lives in Kentucky, I still feel the void. Isn't that odd? Just another one of those things about getting old.

I am interested in finding a good recording software package for my laptop to do site recordings. I have looked at Pro Tools but there are so many versions I am a bit confused as to what they are all about. It seems that the M package may work best for me. Any comments?

I was traveling this weekend and found a great radio station in Texarkana, of all places. It is 101.7 and called BOB FM. If you like a great mix of music from current back to the late 70's you may enjoy this station. I don't know if it is exactly the same mix in all the BOB stations but there are several online. Check them out.

I am working on a recording of a Christian demo CD for a friend. Can anyone give me some good A&R or personal contacts to send the demo to?

I guess that is all for now.
Craig Rawson

Part-time

Part-time Audiologist available. Do you need an Audiologist to fill in for a day up to several months? I have been licensed in many states and have worked in jobs ranging from Private practice, to Doctors offices up to Clinical supervisor at a University in Texas. I have experience in standard Audiology testing, ABR, ENG, some ECOG and other electrophysical testing. I am currently licensed in Kentucky and Tennessee and am working on renewing my license in Texas. Think ahead if you may need some help to fill in for vacations, maternity leave, or procedures when you may need to take some time off because most states need several weeks to process a license. (Some states will allow me to work for a short time on my out-of-state license.) Call 859-619-0571 with questions.
Craig A. Rawson, M.S., CCC-A

I didn't hear about it anywhere

I know I have listened to the news. I have tried to keep up with the network info but nutowhere did I hear that this weekend was to be the official start of mowing season.

Somehow everyone else in the neighborhood heard about it. Mowers were humming all over the neighborhood but somehow they managed to keep it hidden from me. Our lawn is not in good enough shape to need mowing this weekend but I tried not to look too out of it so brought out the mower and cleaned it off, changed the oil, and chedked everything out so it is now ready for its first use.

last of Tennessee

Moved out of my apartment Friday AM. Drove to KY. Vegged on Saturday. I was going to wait for Sunday to unpack the trailer but now the weatherman is calling for big storms so decided to unpack Saturday night. I got a neighbor to help with the big stuff. With all my apartment things in the living room you can't even walk through it.

My Tennessee venture is now completely over. It is sad that it is over and things had to go the way they did. I guess it is always sad to have to admit when one fails at something.

names

I was watching the news this morning. They have a birthday club. One of the names was "Name #6".
I know that my generation had it's own goofey names but come on people. Think about the problems such a wierd name could have on the person. through their life.

Another segment on names is that I just heard about a new website.
http://www.dontdatehimgirl.com/home/index.html
It is a list of guys who have "done thier girl wrong" It is a national listing so if you a re a guy you may want to see if your name is on this list. Guys will have their own website in the near future.

Sorry for the typos but right now all I see when I type is boxes. I have to figure this out before I can edit.

An important day???

Today is a day to reminisce. In my lifetime I have seen the heyday of Abbott and Costello, Dragnet, starting off in black and white TV.
I am as old as Pat Banatar, Bill Cohen, Desi Arnaz Jr. , Katey Segal, Paul Allen, Emilio Estefan Jr., Chaka Khan, Mary Gross, René Weller, Mickey Mantle Jr., Rick Moranis, Tony Blair (the actor), Mike Oldfield, George Brett, Pierce Brosnan. Peter Townend, Kathie Sullivan( of Lawrence Welk fame), Peter Bergman, Tim Allen, Cyndi Lauper, Elizabeth Hess, Robert Cray, Wolfgang Müller, James Horner, Kathie Lee Gifford, Marcia Clark, Richard Buckley, Tony Shalhoub, Peter Fontana, Dennis Miller, and Kim Basinger.

The Korean War ended the year I was born. I have been alive through the start of the nuclear age, the space age, the computer age, and the rock and roll age, and I lived through the age of Camelot!

I remember sending up unmanned spacecraft through the space monkeys, the walk on the moon, to now. I can recall tube electronics, and the transistor period, where we would replace tubes in our electronic gear with transistor devices that would plug in the tube socket and make the gear more modern! I can remember working on computers before there were home computers and I remember working on prototypes and even selling many computer models that are now in the Smithsonian as one of the first personal computers, (I even owned one of them). I still own one of the first laptop type computers. I can recall learning Fortran, and Cobol, and machine code and how easy the Basic Programming Language seemed at the time.

This would be a large musing if I tried to mention all the innovations I have lived through. Sufficed to say it has been a fun ride and I can hardly wait to see what is still in store in the years to come.
